At the beach
I recently took a trip to the western side of Georgia. I was shocked by how different it looks over there and slightly jealous of the volunteers who live next to the beach all year round. I went with a group of volunteers and we rented part of a house for about 8 dollars each. It was good fun. We went night swimming, ate out while watching the sun set, played frisbee, and just generally had fun and slept very little. Overall a really good vacation and totally worth doing again if any of you ever come visit me. School should be starting in another three weeks. But it might not. Believe it or not, nobody knows when school starts yet. Good fun. I also have been travelling back and forth to meet the new volunteers in training and do various sessions with them. Everything from how to use drama in the classroom, being a mentor in their practice school, talking about dating in Georgia, to trying to recruit them for my various projects. I actually have gotten to know them pretty well in this way, so thats been good. Plus we had over 20 volunteers express interest in participating in Teacher Training or Teachers Camp, so that was awesome for me. I also will be getting a sitemate soon. He seems really nice and I think we will get along well. He already said he would take the bus to Greece with me, so he wins points in my book (I have no idea why other people havent been excited about the overcrowded two day bus to Greece filled with Georgians planning to outstay their tourist visas). I also have a girl living about 15 minutes away, so its practically like two sitemates. Wooo. It will be fun to not be the only American here, but at the same time I also feel a bit like this is my turf. Unfortunately we also had to say goodbye to one of the favorites from my group recently, so that was pretty hard for all of us.

Hey Erica! It's David from back in BCS days. As I guess Christine told you, we were hanging out the other day and reminiscing about life. This is clearly a lame forum for a catchup. I'm moving to London in two days but I will email you more once I get there and I'd love to hear what you're up to - dlouk@stanford.edu. Hope to hear from you soon!
